Salesman

Silver-Tongued Wizards of the Deal

Like a dangerous fusion of flesh and technology, the Salesman is what happens when the Corporations hit the Street. They may not be quite as successful as their Fixer breatherin, but they don't have to deal in knock-offs and illegal items either. Usually backed by a corporation (megacorp or otherwise), the Salesmen are the corp's walking outlet store to the general population.

Selling everything from prototype Arasaka shotguns and NASA Hydrogen power-converters to IEC electric blankets, the Salesman can be found in the slightly more lit areas of town with their ever-present bag of samples. Dealing with Cops and Boostergangs alike, the most successful of them develep a "neutral territory" feel to their clients. The less successful usually end up dead.

Nevertheless, the motive is always profit--with a keen eye on the bottom line. You better scam and sell better than your brother down the Street, or you might just end up working for him.

BASIC CAREER SKILLS

  • The Pitch
  • Awareness/Notice
  • Education and General Knowledge
  • Persuasion/Fast Talk
  • Human Perception
  • Personal Grooming
  • Wardrobe and Style
  • Oratory
  • Mathematics or Stock Market
  • Expert: (Pick a Product)
The Pitch: The Salesmen's (or woman's) ability to convince the customer to buy something that they are selling. Similar to a Media's Credability mixed with a Fixer's Street Deal. This works as both, but at only 1/2 the skill level. The Pitch is based on an average of the character's EMP and INT stats.

"Sure, I get called 'Snake Oil Salesman' occasionally, who doesn't in this biz? But when it somes right down to it, I actually believe in my product--otherwise I wouldn't be selling it. Yes, there are some out here that do sell junk, they call themselves Fixers. But we're better then them. We have University trained designers and factory lines and quality controls backing up our product, and even then it's not good enough.

Out here you have to Sell. You find the leads and you make the deal. You gotta do it better than the guy down the street or your toast. I myself just sold a refurbished US Army Howitzer to a Home Owners Association so that they could get rid of a small Gang problem. They'll probably blow away a few houses in the process, but I can sell them new ones. And all of it means more cash lining my pockets.
