The next hour held many surprises. Ploovo-Two-for-One was at this party with a group of business men. He was desperately working to make contact with the Director General of the Corporate Sector Authority. Ploovo had no inkling of who I really was or I would never have made it out of the party alive. Interestingly, Ploovo revealed that the Ballarstonian Institute of Smuggling was really a cover for a slave mine. I will have to arrange a visit to Ballarstona in the future. Interestingly, mistaken identity would plague our group for the rest of the night.

A rather unpleasant surprise came from Vice Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo. He made is way over to our group as we were putting the final touches on our plan to get deeper into the palace. The obvious entrances were out. The main staircase was protected by the palace guards. The service entrances were unguarded, but patrolled by COMPNOR youth. They had been drafted into duty as waiters and waitresses. They were all ruthless and ambitious. They would sell anyone out for a chance to advance. They all carried vibro daggers. And they all knew how to use them. So service entrances were out. There was one option left. That is when the Vice Admiral appeared. The Vice Admiral was rather disturbing. He was humanoid, dark skinned and red eyes. He looked at each of us. Stared right through our costumes and determined that we didn’t belong there. Then he said something like “I’m pleased to see that this party will not be as boring as I had feared.” Then, with a nod, he disappeared into the crowd.
