The handle was the important because it was a reflection upon a person's personality since each one had to be hand crafted. This also made complete sense to Haselvlat since the weapons the cheif's always carried were usually made from the creature's the cheif had slain. It seemed that the Jedi broadened out to also include crafting metal objects for the artistically inclined, as of yet he hadn't seen any femur-lightsaber handles but he assumed it was a matter of time.

Haselvlat nodded to himself with satisfaction then cracked open the chest he had stashed the dead snake-thing. There was a reassuring aroma of flesh and venom residue along with a friendly char smell. Haselvlat had politely requested to remain on planet for a little while. He had some things he needed to sort out and the whole Naufragi tribe needed more work. He dragged the body out of the chest and laid it out on the ground. Then he began slicing it open in long thing strips with his claws. The leather hide would make very good rope bindings but what he was really interested in were all those spines down its sides. He took the strips of leather hide and laid them out on the ground, then began placing and wrapping the individual spines along the strap. After he had six spines attached he bundled it up to look at how it would fit together. The spines all came to a point down at the bottom and still left a hollow spot in the middle for the circuitry. The could be assembled in an upward spiral to make a nice long handle...
