For now, as long as I stay close to the “Admiral” I should be safe. Well, as safe as he can be. Since I'm hiding under his shield of protection, I must rely on his judgment and skills to keep us all safe. If he falters, I will be easy prey for any number of predators on board the ship. I'm not certain how long I would last on board without another protector.

I've had some time to think about this. Is that the only way to survive in the universe? To find someone strong and powerful and stay close to their side? It's inherently dangerous, and somehow unsatisfying. I'm only safe as long as I'm in favor, and they're in power. Could there be another way for me? A way for me to chart my own destiny?

I find it... difficult to even consider the idea. For so many years I've learned the only way to safety is through another more powerful being.
