Very quickly into the trip I realized I have several opportunities to fill in the gaps in my training. Perhaps fill in the gaps is a bit of an understatement. Suffice it to say I have a chance to start learning the very skills I desire.

Combat.

There will be many beings that come for me. The harder I can make it for them to find and capture me, the better my chances of surviving as an escaped slave.

The next logical move was to make a deal with the commandos. Beings with time to kill and not a lot to do. I started with a two pronged approach. Help tend to the wounded, partly to earn some credit with the commandos, partly because it was the right thing to do. Blatantly asking for instruction was the other prong.
