The last time you stopped and looked at the changing patterns of the seasons. You start to wonder what happened to the other slaves you knew in the household. There was the old lady. You haven't seen her around in... ages. The young and pretty ones come and go. Some stay, most don't.

You think back and remember when you were young. Lithe in body. Quick of mind and hand.

But it's all gone now. And you have nothing but a life of servitude and oppression to show for your time. And then, very soon, it will be gone. All of it.

During my time at the academies, there were many I met. Too many gave up on life and found themselves falling prey to the slavery of their solitude. Of their broken hope.

A rare few found another path.
