Rel dodged a knot of techies and slipped around the corner of a stack of shipping containers. Var plowed into a bothan that stopped to watch Rel's escape, nearly tripped on the parts he spilled across the spaceport deck and rounded the shipping containers with a quick call of "sorry!" over her shoulder. She caught the flicker of Rel's coveralls dashing left around a transport and lept into pursuit, but her head throbbed with each step like a sharp knife in her skull. Var slowed to a walk near the transport and rested her hands on her knees, breathing slowly, willing the food she'd just eaten to stay in her stomach.

"You're lucky, maggot," she wheezed. "Today you get to live."
