PHX-HK4X Phoenix Hawk LAM

The Land-Air 'Mech designs have always been viewed with equal measures of skepticism and respect. While able to perform the duties of both Battlemechs and Aerospace fighters due to their unique conversion equipment, they never really excelled in either. While amazing scouts and raiders, there were never enough of them produced to determine their capabilities in large-unit actions. In addition, the usually small tonnage of the LAMs hampered them when slugging it out with the larger 'mechs of the Star League era. In 2732 Allied Aerospace Inc. of the Draconis Combine began production of the most popular and successful LAM to date: the Phoenix Hawk. Weighing in at 45 tons, it was almost double the weight of any LAM that came before it. The SLDF was interested in the design, ordering several hundered for themselves. While most were destroyed in the repatriation of Terra or left with General Kerensky in the Exodus, some remained behind--several surviving to the present day. This particular vehicle was recovered on the planet Buena in 3015 from a downed Star League transport. It passed through several inspections at the Hesperus battlemech factories before being appropriated by a local political lord. The LAM was given as a gift to his favorite small mercenary group and was propmtly stolen by one of the Lyran Commonwealth techs that had been assigned to them. The tech, a Dispossessed mechwarrior named Roxton Tomenraiderzen, took the 'mech and hopped a freigher towards his homeworld of Winter. During the trip he suffered through three seperate firefights along the Marik border, eventually being forced to replace the advance Star Leage armor and heat sinks with conventionally available replacements. The 'mech was last seen in a sorry state of disrepair and is thought to be in the possession of Roxton's daughter Lara.
